Yesterday was our first day of training and I wanted to give a brief recap of the training session that is laying the foundation for our training and time here in Italy. The expectations that our leader has set for this program is two-fold:
1. Trust God with who we are
2. Trust others with who we really are
David said something profound yesterday along the lines of this: You can choose your spouse and you can choose your friends, but you do not choose your brothers and sisters. My brothers and sisters are the people on this trip with me...they are the people that I will go to battle with. Each person on this trip was hand-picked and chosen by God to walk alongside me on this journey. I need to treasure them, work to get to know them, and learn to work with them as a team unit.
He said another thing that really hit me during prayer time...he prayed, "God, don't let us get away with things." Wow...how often do we just settle for things in our own life or just go through life not even knowing that we cut corners or actually get away with stuff. If we really want to grow in our walk with God and be stretched and challenged, we need to be willing to ask God to not allow us to get away with things so that we are fully accountable and intentional.
My expectations for this trip:
1. Minister to the children by showing them the love of God and leading them to salvation
2. Grow stronger in my walk with God and for Him to reveal Himself to me and the next steps He has for my life after this internship
3. To affect and pour into those on the trip with me and to also be poured into
4. To be stretched and challenged
5. To be equipped to answer the call to the mission field, should God call me in that direction
